INFORMATION LETTER TO CUSTOMERS WHO
WISH TO BUY PRODUCTS THROUGH A TRADESMAN
1. Who Qualifies As A Tradesman To Buy At Discount From Us --
The basic criteria is that the items are being purchased FOR RESALE and that we can assume the buyer might buy again and again - hence, he must have a state tax number (pertaining to his trade) and a business card as an interior designer, contractor, plumber, etc. Home owners contracting their own homes do not qualify.
2. Why We Don't Sell Directly To Tradesman Customers At Discount (Even With Tradesman Approval) --
a. Our discount schedule is confidential to the trade, and we wish to protect that confidentiality as much as possible.
b. We would not be able to keep track of whether or not a customer is still working with a tradesman. Customers are known to buy using a tradesman's name long after the tradesman has left the service of a customer.
c. Some tradesman want their purchases taxed, some do not. We would have to know the case with each customer.
d. Our trade discounts are given so that a trades person can make a profit, however, different tradesman sell to their customers under different agreements. (Some charge a percent of discounted net, some charge full retail, some give some discount, etc.) We cannot be expected to know how much the tradesman wishes to charge, nor do we wish to be involved.
e. We want the tradesman to come in and see what else we have to offer, in order to stimulate more sales to that tradesman.
3. Discount --
To tradesman we will sell sales tax free (or taxed if preferred) at discount from our retail prices. This discount is given with the assumption that a volume of business may be induced. Discounts and discount prices will be given directly to dealers only, and not to customers in their stead. Retail customers buying from tradesman will have to inquire from the tradesman for pricing. Quantity discounts are available to all.
4. Factory Orders --
Though it is not desirable for an order to take several months, it is not uncommon. We recommend that you order well in advance of your needs, and you will be more likely to have products when you need them and before price increase.
5. Deposits and Payments --
We require a substantial deposit on orders and payment in full upon picking up of any of our merchandise. Your tradesman, hence, may require a deposit from you. Sometimes, especially if a product is ordered that will take a long time coming, it may be more convenient for the home owner to pick up an order. If you and your tradesman agree to this, then the order should be prepaid by the tradesman or the tradesman will be required to pick up the order. We must have payment and permission from the tradesman to release goods to tradesman customers directly.
6. Returns --
Customers buying our merchandise from a tradesman must return their merchandise to their tradesman - we cannot take returns from you if we did not sell you the merchandise. Note: Tradesman are charged a 20% stocking charge on stocked merchandise returns after ten days. Returns are not accepted after 30 days. Refunds are not allowed on special order merchandise.
